An exchange student staying at Prince George’s Park Residences died on March 04. Prince George's Park Residences campus security personnel, Zarina Abdul Samat, said the deceased was of American nationality. However, she was unable to comment on further details, such as his identity and the exact time the campus security was alerted of the incident.
The cause of death is unknown and no other details about the deceased could be confirmed at press time as personnel in charge of the main campus security hotline declined further comment. However, some PGPR residents have been discussing the details of the exchange student’s death after they caught wind of the news. Christopher Aldo, a third-year engineering student staying at PGPR said, "I heard that it was a Caucasian exchange student. He was found at about 5 a.m. or 6 a.m." Aldo also added, "He and some others had been making noise in the kitchen, then around that time he fainted." Zarina said the deceased student was found in his room. The Observer has learnt from another PGPR resident, MD. Rafayet Ullah, that the deceased was named Scott Monat. Rafayet, a third-year business student, said he was a friend of the deceased, who is an exchange student majoring in neuroscience from the University of Miami. But details about what happened remain unclear. Rafayet said, “We came back from Thailand on the same flight on Friday. I heard he was on medication and he had a bit of a drink.” This article has been updated to include details of the deceased student. |
